Yes, and it worked just fine thank you. With a V-sail I didn't even need to
rudder with my paddle. You just move the sail to one side or the other to turn
the opposite way.



Frank Goodman (Nordkapp designer) got me to try his little sailboat he brought
to the 1984 L.L. Bean Sea kayak Symposium in Maine. It was a small open boat
that didn't have a rudder. You controlled it by shifting your weight.



The sail builder (best I've seen for a kayak) demonstrating with Pakboats at
the recent West Coast Symposium says his sail/leeboards unit works fine
without a rudder too. He uses his paddle for ruddering if the kayak doesn't
have a rudder.



I'm not claiming it is easier without a rudder, mind you, but it is doable.
