The last I heard, the Broken Group was closed to fishing within an extensive envelop that includes the interior waters. Fishing outside the envelop is allowed, but takes you outside the protection of the islands, ie, you are plunking in open ocean. We were shown a picture of the closure envelop at a fishing shop in Port Alberni.
