I know that some Paddlewisers are, like me, airplane pilots as well as paddlers so I thought I'd pass along this link to the "Miracle on the Hudson". The video is a composite that shows animation of the aircraft for the entire flight from rolling onto the runway to splashdown in the Hudson River. Since I am also a glider pilot I was particularly interested in how well Sullenberger (who is also a glider pilot) kept control of the aircraft's altitude and speed during the emergency and I was amazed. You will be too. Pertinent radio traffic, airspeed and altitude and the animation of the airplane makes this a "don't miss" video for pilots or anyone interested in seeing how a really good pilot reacts under pressure. Amazing, simply amazing. Even for people who are not pilots. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/11/incredible-new-look-at-us-airways-flight-1549/ Craig Jungers Moses Lake, WA www.nwkayaking.net *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Thanks for posting this. The most comforting words a passenger upon taking off will ever hear are these. "This is Capt. Sullenberger we be flying at ......." Sully is nearing mandatory retirement age. He will be replace by someone who does not know what an ASW-26 is and has never flown a taildragger. Pause for thought.
