Most of us are sea kayakers, a few of us are white water kayakers, but
probably the majority of us started out, like I did, as canoe paddlers. I
have owned a canoe over an unbroken string of 40 years. I would have said
"continuously" but my 2nd canoe was stolen off my beach in 1978 and replaced
a few weeks later. There are a lot of positive things I can say about a
canoe but the one that springs first to my mind is "load carrying ability"
and the one that springs least to my mind is "expedition worthy". Well there
are those who would disagree with that.

Enter CackleTV which has produced "This is Canoeing" ( for a preview go to:
http://www.cackletv.com/canoeing/this-is-canoeing/ ). Just the preview is
enough to remind me of lazy days on the rivers and sloughs around Everett,
Washington as well as the occasional more exciting day. My wife and I used
an aluminum Grumman canoe to ferry a baby and a dog back and forth from our
house to her parents' house on the same lake back in the late 70s. That same
baby went on to spend 5 years on a sailboat so they aren't bad for
introducing people to the water.

I just looked at the preview and the video looks great. If you, like me,
enjoyed your canoe days it's worth a peek.

Not expedition worthy? That would depend on the canoe. Just as with
kayaks, different designs have different purposes.

Agreed! On inland routes, it's Way easier to portage with a canoe than a kayak.
