I use a HP Mini Nano, which has a decent keyboard, and fairly bright screen, not least when attached to the charger. It came with Vista, but has been running without a hitch with Linux (Ubuntu) since Peter (our kid who now lives in Thailand) installed it a few years back. I don't use it to surf via 3G, yet, but WiFi I use a lot! Probably move my Skype to it as well, as I can connect my bluetooth headset to it! Has a big, nice, hard disc, durable keyboard and seems built to last for ever! For normal cellular stuff I went back to the cheapest Nokia I could find here in Thailand - all basic, but runs a week on a single charge, and cost me about US$25! Before that I had a Samung that at the most run two days (no difference if you used it or not) and that on which you could not turn off the 3G stuff! Came with pedometer and heart-rate sensor, stuff I certainly don't use! Going home to snowy Sweden tomorrow! All the best, Tord, who survived the salmonella/typhoid PS Seen one SOT, in four weeks, but a lot of sampans, official boats (military & police) and fishing vessels, of various sizes, from very tiny to fairly small :-)! *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
