Years ago one of our local paddling ministers had a "Paddle Naked" T-shirt.
Reportedly she often didn't wear it on small off-the beaten-path trips. I'm
sorry to report I only know about this second hand as I never had the pleasure
of paddling with her.

Thanks for the plug Doug. Was really nice chatting with you the other day. The
baidarka I paddle is fairly strictly purposed as a go-straight craft. I've
taken to calling her a 'Thoroughbred Longliner'. Turning is a challenge,
tracking is solid, she's surprisingly stable, and oddly enough she
surfs beautifully. If anyone would like to know more about my upcoming trip it
can be found at www.longboatshortboat.blogspot.com. I'll be updating it as I
travel (and find internet cafes).

I found that comment curious as well Duane and asked Freya about it. Seems
that is a comfortable amount for her. I'm guessing that as a lifetime athlete
she closely monitors caloric, nutrient and water intake and use and knows her
body's needs more intimately because of it. I did notice that she dressed
light during her expedition which would reduce sweating and subsequent water
loss. Possibly she was choosing her speeds and exertion level to match her
daily water budget?
