Just saw this on ABC World News Now "Helen Skelton, 26, smashed two world records by completing a 3,235km (2,010 mile) solo kayak journey down the Amazon River on Sunday. Skelton Paddled about 97 km (60 miles) a day, six days a week to finish the trip for Sport Relief (www.sportrelief.com)." And she finished earlier than expected. I also read (in Wikipedia) she had never kayaked before training for this trip (but that was in Wikipedia so I don't know how accurate that is). Video from the start of the trip showed her paddling stroke did not look like someone who had been in training. Maybe the trip was the training. Or Wikipedia was wrong. Anyhow, congrats to Skelton. http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/815434-helen-skelton-i-did-this-because-of-the-children-who-watch-blue-peter *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
