I have a Dagger Cortez 16.5 in plastic. About 65 - ish pounds. Narrow and seems fast. High decked. I am a canoeist not a kayaker, I just got this because it was available and will fit a large (the guy selling it) or long (me) paddler. I contemplated moving the seat back a bit for a better fit, but never did. My wife never followed up on her desire to try kayaking, and so this one does not get used by either of us very much. Steve Cramer asked: >>>>Anybody know anything about this boat?<<<< Originally it was the Cortez Comp in 2001 by 2003 called the 17.5. It is composite construction, 20.25" wide and I thought very tippy, the cockpit is 33" long by 16.5" wide. It turned with a lean about average for a kayak but it didn't track that well. The rudder slowed down my spin in place with a lean time by 4 seconds to 28 seconds for a 360. it took me 28 seconds to spin it in place level which is quite a bit slower than average (but only a bit slow for a 17.5' long kayak). It had a rudder and was one of the few kayaks I could lean turn 1 second faster with the rudder than without. 4/03website--bow vol. 22.5 gal., stern vol. 39.6 gal. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
