I'm forwarding this note from the Houston Canoe Club list, with the
intent of inviting anyone else within kayaking distance of the Texas
coast to come on down for a fun event. Of course, I fully endorse
helping out a local library as well.

I had a great Sunday run myself, kayaking the 10 miles around Pelican
Island (Galveston), with six male kayaking buds. Hey, someone had to do
it, and I sure am not complaining. We even got a nice little rain
shower to cool us off; two chances to get out and stretch our legs,
jump into Galveston Bay. It's always good kayaking weather around here
and the water temps were delightful even if the air was a tad warm.

Subject: [Hcc] kayak run on the coast

Hello Everyone,

I represent the Friends of the Sargent Library, who are having a charity
paddle on

October 9 of this year here in Sargent, Texas to benefit our library.

The leisurely paddle takes you down Caney Creek for either the full run
of 9 miles or as little as 2, and ends up at a picturesque marina that
offers a terrific boiled shrimp lunch. After lunch, we will have a
silent, a live and a bucket auction, we'll raffle off a 32" blu-ray
plasma TV, a huge BBQ grill and $300 in gift cards. And we will draw
among only the kayakers for a new kayak and hand out individual prizes
for each paddler. Besides that, you each would get a free T-shirt and
whistle! How great is that?

Since the event is to help the library, we ask that each participant
raise a minimum of $25 in donations. We would be delighted if you happen
to raise more, but we'd also be very grateful for the $25.

It's pretty down here in October, it's a fun day with good folks, and we
also have adult beverages and music.........

Come join us!

Send me a note if you're interested, and I'll get right back to you.

Thanks,

Connie Fulbright
