Makes sense to me. Perhaps longer paddles might therefore be favoured by muscular older people, bearing in mind that fast twitch muscles atrophy faster with age in humans than slow twitch muscle fibres. And in lab animals at least theres a suggestion that slow twitch fibres increase with age to compensate.
