Duane put up some good photos. It sounds like he experienced one of the "sampling" bites by the shark, instead of a vigorous attack. None the less having a shark mouth the front deck by the bulkhead would be quite an experience. Kudo's to Duane for deciding to paddle in and calling in for assistance.
