  That does look painful. My friend Barb not too long ago closed her 
back hatch and snapped Ken's $400+ Werner paddle in half! I seem to 
remember Ken had a rather pained look on his face! A much easier fix, 
though, he had an old carbon fiber bike seat post that fit perfectly and 
with a little epoxy, it was good as new.
This guy might need a bit more epoxy.
