Thanks for those details Doug and for your summary. I had no idea Dave was
so ill and can only wish him well through Paddlewise. As you say, in the
article Dan Millsip makes the point that Dave "doesn't wish to be called by
anyone as this last part of his life is getting quite difficult and
personal". He also says that "if anyone has a message that they'd like
passed on, get in touch (with Dan Millsip) and if possible, I will pass it
on". I've valued Dave's character, opinion, contributions and stories very
greatly for many years, both on Paddlewise and off line and am saddened that
a man full of such life has to go through this. 

In deference to Dave's wishes I'm wondering if someone from Paddlewise could
contact Dan Millsip and ask him to pass on the Paddlewise group's
appreciation of his friendship and our thoughts and best wishes. Would other
Paddlewise members feel the same? I don't mean in any sense to put you on
the spot but is this a task Doug' that you and/or Jackie would be willing to
take on? 

Again thanks for your summary that expressed very well what I also feel.
