Pam tried to find a place to be inspected a while back on a trip to the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene and couldn't so she didn't launch. And was somewhat miffed about the whole deal. Last summer I was on a bike trip to the I-90 area near the Montana border and watched several trailered boats just drive right past the inspection station set up for west-bound cars on I-90 but I didn't see anyone come out after them. They had a couple boats in there for inspection and might not have seen the cars go by. Seems silly to require it for canoes and kayaks although I suppose it's remotely possible for a kayak with a rudder to have invasive species attached. If you have no rudder I don't think it's much of a concern but they don't discriminate.
