I think we need to distinguish between sit-on-tops and sit-inside boats.  A
swamped boat, full of water, has an extraordinarily large amount of momentum
- there's probably hundreds of pounds of mass there.  The surf ski we were
talking about originally doesn't have that problem, I think, though it still
weighs more than a surfboard.

Weight of the boat, swamped or not, isn't everything though - a large
unswamped boat, even a light one, that is being pushed by a wave still can
have the momentum of the water behind it.
