One of my paddling cronies did a local race with a deck mounted video camera a couple weeks back. The boat used as the filming platform is a Fenn Elite, the same boat that Duane Strosaker just bought. The camera is a basic suction cup mounted affair - no fancy stabilizers. So you can see how much boat motion there is, for a 17" beam boat, in slop. http://www.vimeo.com/29236750 There's one section, early in the video, where the videographer sped up the images to get through a 'dull' stretch. It's the only sped up portion in case you watch the video and don't enjoy that portion. There are some pretty good runs in the second half of the race, cruising down the wind waves. Nothing big or scary, one of those days where your average sailor is happy with the wind. The race went from Deveraux beach out past tinker island, past/around/over Thomas Moore rock, and back.
