I used to use Linux only (the spare was a MS, I confess), but nowadays I use Linux very seldom (I have Ubuntu in my HP Nano-Mini (or is it Mini-Nano?)), and the Dell Inspiron with XP is almost only used for NC operations. When I had Risc-OS computers I had a lot of problems with the Internet, then with Linux I had some with video files, like Craig, and while I with XP had occasional total collapses, it handled video OK (far better than the ME I had before that) We used to have a home-made cable TV box - my wife's son is a programmer, so he built it, and installed the various pieces of hardware and software needed; all from the world of Linux. To begin with it worked like a dream, but after he emigrated to Thailand it started to misbehave, so eventually we gave up and gave it to another programmer friend of his. The iMac with OS X (Lion) has been almost totally trouble-free (iPhoto sometimes crashes, but pops up again seconds later, as healthy as before - weird). The odd thing with my iMac is printing, as to this day it sometimes sends the print jobs into limbo - no trace of them anywhere in the system - but says it has finsihed them in an orderly manner. B #b,%&/( ;-(! Just as it was in the old days of PCs, Macs, and Linux, and Risc-OS, but then you'd find them clogged in a printer queue, somewhere. Not so with my iMac. Happily, it often works on the third try! And similar problems do my local hospital have ("We have to go to the printer in the reception and get the printout, as there is something weird with this one"), and also at 'my' camera shop, but they both use Windows, so I am not that surprised :-)! A thought, Craig, do you use Firefox?! Some versions of it have had problems with viewing many videos in a row - maybe there is a newer version for Linux, too?! <font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tord S Eriksson, MA in Journalism; ex Editor-in-Chief; Avid Photographer; Pentax Fan, Articulated Bus Driver; Hon.
