G'day,

I've placed some pictures of a folding boat on my very newly created blog
website http://rebyl-kayak.blogspot.com/. Does anyone recognise or know
anything of the history of this boat? Or can you recommend me to groups /
people who might have such information?

If you could include my email address on your replies as I'm not yet able to
receive Paddlewise emails.

All the best, PeterO

Back when I was studying frames I found this site:

http://www.faltbootbasteln.de/

and I took a lot of images from that site and put them together so
that I could compare. For you it could be a kind of "index" to the
original site to help you find something (hopefully).

Good luck!

If you close in on it being a klepper I've got a 1930 klepper frame that
I can send you pictures of. Some of the ways that the stringers attach
to the bow and stern look similar.

If anyone knows where to sell a 1930 klepper (frame only). I'm never
going to skin it so a new owner is in order...

G'day Kirk,

I'd really appreciate the pictures, thanks.

Peter could you measure it and send me its length and width? You will probably
need to use a couple of carpenter's squares or a plumb bob to get the width
dimension real close. If I have that info I might be able to search my
database for one that matches your kayak's dimensions pretty close.
Any sign of a company name or logo? What is on the bow flag?

Thanks Matt,

I'm back on deck after the Christmas break. I don't have the boat for
comparison, just photos at the moment. However, I did get a chance for a
close look and there are no identification letters or numbers on the boat it
may have been modified/repaired over the years. Also there is no fabric
cover or flag. A distinctive feature is the relatively short stern section.

I'm following a lead at the moment with the son of an Australian
manufacturer. Will let you know what the outcome is and will ask the owners
for the length and beam measurements.

All the best, Peter
