Alaska mosquitos might compete with Kiwi sand flies, but in the PNW, they're smaller and generally only a nuisance in the wetter early-summer months. No major holidays in October, and by then the weather can either be "unseasonably warm" if we get an extended Autumn, or more likely getting cold and blustery. cheers!
