A tropical storm suddenly appeared off Charleston, SC USA overnight and
drifted over Tybee Island by morning. Half a dozen of us took this as a
sign to mount up and went out long boat surfing into the infamous Tybee
Triangle. We had fun get rained and gusted on while sliding down 4-5
foot sloppy waves. The waves had some serious power and shoved us fast
and hard for quite a ways.

One nice thing about most of the Triangle is if you think you are going
to drown stand up. Its pretty shallow yet surrounded by powerful river
mouth/ocean currents which is a big part of why the water can be so
wild. If you paddled a short boat or waveski out there you could really
have a blast. To try something like that on fun condition days would be
a battle royal.
