OK, so this isn't exactly a kayaking story, but it's been pretty slow around here lately, and I find this young girls passion vaguely reminiscent, if not inspirational. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/day-356761-days-surf.html *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Great story. Hopefully she doesn't get obsessed and take unnecessary risks... There was a guy who climbed Mount Monadanock in New Hampshire every day for 8 years - 2850 consecutive days. Pneumonia eventually ended streak. http://www.ledgertranscript.com/article/beyond-the-mountain Four waves aren't worth it just to keep a streak going... I read that at the source! Pretty inspiring and shows where the greats of a sport start from. I've kayaked at San O where I didn't want to get near the outside break and it wasn't anywhere near 15'! In general, I like punching through waves, but the constant sets coming in to San O can really tire you out before you even get out to where you can take a ride. Of course, I'm an old man and started rather old in life, so I'll be happy to ride the occasional six footers! Still, I'd like to go there some day when the 15 footers are coming in, just to see how hard it is to handle the white water reaching the shore.
