This afternoon a 2-alarm fire destroyed Sterling Kayaks near Bellingham, WA. Pam has had two of his boats and there are numerous others who have bought from him. His Illusion is especially popular. No one was hurt. Sterling was in the building and apparently alone but got out. I've heard they paddle great, but it appears they burn pretty good too! That was quite a blaze. I hope he'll be able to rebuild; it would be a shame to lose a good kayak manufacturer. Brandon Nelson posted on the Yahoo "Gone Paddling" club message board that Sterling was able to get one of each of his models out, but that was about it.
