A story from my part of the world. St Simon's Island is located just a 
bit North of Florida in Georgia.

The kayaker apparently threw the two survivors flotation devices after 
they found themselves in a bad place. The inlet where the swimmer 
drowned is very deceiving with deep, swift water right next to ankle 
deep water. It seems like most summers a tourist drowns here.
