Greetings, I've got a plane ticket refund I need to use and thinking to go as far as it will take me. I drove through Maine in a hurry a few years ago and like the look of it. I'd fly into Boston and drive up mid-September. Any recommendations on venues to rent a kayak for day paddles (the gear logistics too burdensome for a longer paddle), or other must-sees welcome. I'm attaching a few pictures I took recently on the Willamette in Portland. Skinboat was a lovely (at least from my distance) rower with sunlight shining through. I'd like to see it close up*. The kayak and barge seemed to be the boats of somebody seriously traveling in her/his kayak. It was all zipped up with a 'club' and locked to the dock. My narrative (I never saw the owner) of the wooden boat is that Traveler towed what did not fit in the kayak. It was a nicely-made wooden boat with attractive decorative touches. I really did want to have a chat. * couple months ago I landed on the NW point of Orcas and chatted with 3 folk who had landed a 20 ft (I'm guessing) skin rowboat. Dang it was lovely. I do like me some boats.
