My Outrage II WW kayak zipped open for 6 to 8 inches on the bottom under the bow foam pillar when I ran over something jagged in the river. Had the cloth lay-up not been so perfectly square, with each and every layer lined up perfectly, that zipper effect wouldn't have happened. The Polaris II fits very large paddlers. I'm 6' tall with a long back and long arms but being used to kayaks much narrower in the paddling area I had a problem with constantly barking my knuckles on the high wide gunnels when test paddling the 25.5" wide Polaris II. > CC: marinerkayaks_at_msn.com; paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net > From: jdesbrow_at_sbcglobal.net > Subject: Re: [Paddlewise] Marinerish??? > Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2014 23:12:42 -0800 > To: marksanders_at_sandmarks.net > > My Polaris ended up with Ed Gillette after it was t-boned in > Mexico and split on the bottom of the hull. I traded it in for my Tesla. I had many miles on my Polaris. No bulkheads. No hatches. I had fun cleaning up my last Mariner find before turning it over to a new owner who has continued to bring it back to a new life. Thought I might have another chance here. > > And I always enjoy the free history lessons here when I ask about an old Mariner!! > > > > Mark Sanders > > *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
