Anybody? I'm dying to try out my new headlamp.

Looks like you just paddle out the estuary and turn right? How's the bar there?

Anything better cave-wise between Astoria and Mendocino (great caves there, btw)?

Any nuance appreciated.

Caves on Neahkanie Head, adjacent to Short Sands Beach, typically accessed via the beach at Manzanita.  Gotta watch the tide, and heavy swell is a trip killer.  Put up a request on PDXseakayaker on Yahoo for better beta, or email Neil Schulman, Steve Scherrer.  Alder Creek should have the dope, also.  Ditto Ginny at Columbia River Kayaking.  CRK has a web site.

Dave; long time no see/hear. Hope you are well. I stopped by your place one time to check out a Pygmy (I think it was a Pygmy (that's how I remember it)). What, 15 years ago? Sheesh.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out CRK and seakayaker.

I'm hoping for benign seas next week. Somehow in my dotage I've loss my fearlessness in the face of solo surf launches. I lost a hatch, skirt, shorts, and several degrees of core temp in the last trashing. I had a farmer john under the shorts, so I retained my modesty.
