Never cooked any kitties in mine, but everything else, yes.  I got my 10
inch diameter one for 10 bucks at some cheap place.  It's got a no-stick
coating on it and I drilled out the handle rivets and replaced them with
brass wing nutted-bolts.  That way, it packs easily as the "bottom" of
something large and soft.  Mine is steel, so I can't store it on deck.

Works great for everything from deep-frying to stir fry to wArming
tortillas.
