> >>>Does anybody have any information regarding a good foot operated bilge > pump?<<< Since you are asking the question, it means you want something that will leave you hands free to brace, paddle on etc. while you get water out of your boat. Have you considered a battery-operated bilge pump? They weigh a few pounds and will pump out water at a _faster_ rate than most of us can ever do on a _sustained_ basis with a hand or foot pump. They are submersible and are amazingly reliable. I'm basing this on the accounts of several people who I have talked to who have them and also seeing their demonstrating how well they work. They will easily pump for an hour or two. Price is in the $35 range. They of course can break down, batteries go dead, etc. But you can also easily develop a cramp in your leg or arm when pumping with muscle driven pumps. Just a caution: One person I know who brings one with him at all times, has it stored in a bailing bucket. Smart man.
