Could inflating the drysuit provide any additional insulation in an
emergency?

First, it is not possible to inflate the suits. Second, though inflating
the suits might provide some additional insulation, it would tend to
restrict movement (another reason to burp the suits). Third, a
paddler floating horizontally on the surface of the water in an
inflated suit would press against the part of the fabric that is in
contact with the water; since the only part of the body that would
gain additional insulation would be the part above the water, any
overall gain in insulation would probably be minimal.
