I've lived, fished, boated, snorkled, skied, etc. in both
Florida and Oregon, and both states are a hoot for the outdoor
recreationist. However, right now I'm recommending that everyone
move to Florida, or stay where you are. It rains an awful lot in
Oregon, you know.
As an aside, the football coach at Oregon State Univ. made a
base salary of 504,000 (U.S. dollars. not pesos), while the Govenor
(an MD) made 100,000, and the president of OSU (a Ph.D.) made around 160,000.
The head coaches at U. of F. and FSU probably made a
lot more. What does this have to do with kayaking? I have no idea!

Actually, Florida has terrible tornados, dangerous mosquitos (Dengue
Fever is predicted soon) and crime you wouldn't belive! Then there's
hurricane season which is the other half of the year...

Any state that hates dogs and PhD's can't be all bad. :-)

The best reason for moving to Oregon is the the superb pinot noir. So good
the French hate their guts. Also I understand the paddling is not bad
either.

If the people in Oregon don't want more people then be careful not to upset
the Canadians. Every year we send thousands of northern rejects to Florida
where they walk around half naked (not a pretty sight at their age), talk
about nothing but hockey and pollute the ocean with suntan oil. You don't
want that to happen in Oregon.
