OK, OK...I bought my first kayak but haven't been out on the water
yet...mostly because the water is still solid! The boat is set up in my
living room and I sit in it sometimes, just to get the feel. ;-)
It's a Feathercraft K-Light. I'm in the market for another used folder
for my husband...anyone have any leads??

I did that with the first folding kayak I ever bought, a double
Klepper. Sat in it for hours in my living room. The biggest difference
between that experience and the real world is just how tiny all the
kayaks are. In a living room, they seem and are immense. Out on open
water they are puny.

Regarding leads on other foldables, you should say something about your
husband's body type (other than you probably find his adorable ;-)) as
this does make a difference. You might consider a new or used Nautiraid
single as the new ones are not all that costly, just around $2100. Used
ones would be around $1500. Or why not just another K-Light unless size
may be a problem. I think you are going to find that most of the
singles used, any of the good models, are going to go for well over
$2000.

Good idea Ralph...he's 6 feet and about 220#. He won't be doing much paddling
because it hurts his back...but he'd like to be able to play around with me
for an hour or two occasionally. ;-) With that in mind, we really want to
keep the cost of the boat as low as possible. Maybe we should be thinking
non-folding?

If you do, a 6' 200+ pal of mine says the Pungo from Wilderness Systems is a
great little recreational boat for about $500. Of course, he also works in a
store that sells them. But others have told me the Pungo is the best tracker of
the various micro recreational kayaks out there.

Besides the folders Ralph mentioned, the Folbot Aleut is a lot of boat in a small
package. I'm 6'2" and while I try to get down to 200 or lower in the summer, I
don't always make it. Nonetheless, I have found the Aleut very easy to get in and
out of and paddle with one simple mod- drilling holes to move the backrest about
2".

I bought my Aleut used from the Jersey Paddler (nice people, BTW; they very
quickly responded when I reported a problem with the boat, and made it right).
While I use the boat for short day trips, many have taken in on long trips. I
believe I paid $800 for boat, spray skirt and a few other accessories that were
included in the package.

Glad to find out I'm not the only one in this same situation! I had avoided
writing about my boat because it (and I) are so new that I don't yet know
what to say in its favor. My new Eddyline Raven, like your boat, is also
sitting in living room awaiting some softer water in the local lakes.
