What I did was cut away the fastex buckles and put 2 brass grommets 
on each side. I ran a thin piece of bungee throgh each grommet and 
the other end is a SS hook, which grabs the pad eyes..  Takes about 5 
minutes to make the conversion.

The straps that are used to hold the bottles are great for snugging a 
VHF in tight. The center pocket hold snacks, keys etc and keeps them 
quit edry. The upper pocket holds the Garmin 12XL and there's room 
for other odds and ends. It's low profile doesn't get in the way of 
the paddle.
