So, does anyone think they were only seeing half of a conversation ;-)

I was replying directly to Clyde, and he was posting (unattributed)
my responses.

This started with Clyde admitting, privately, to having purchased a set of 
sponsons.

I have been wondering if it might be possible to create a sponson 
alternative that worked on some of the principals of the "good" rescue
raft that John Winters referred to back in the sponson/rescue raft
thread.

My thought was that instead of having an air filled sponson on each
side of the boat utilize something similar to the water pockets on
the bottom of a rescue raft.  My initial thought was to build a pair
of "water pockets", along the lines of a 3 foot long funnel, with a wide
top and a narrow lower end, then add a few weights to the narrow end
so that the "water pocket" hung vertically in the water.  Then I thought
this would work better if the water pockets could be deployed a couple
feet from the boat - hence the 6 foot pole.  

So instead of having sponsons adjacent to the boat resisting a tip over
by way of an air bladder, a tip over would be resisted by the weight
of the water in the "water pockets" deployed parallel to the boat.
