I just wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful. When I posted my 2 newbie questions I had no idea that I'd get such a response. What was even more shocking was the intelligence and friendliness of the messages. I'm on several other lists and it doesn't take much for a flame war to break out. People seem to forget what the Delete key is for. I haven't even taken my first lesson yet! If all kayakers are like you people, I should have gotten into the sport/ hobby (which is it?) a long time ago. I hope to be able to contribute more in the future and even swap a tale or too. I believe what you've connected with is the cream of the crop. Well... everyone else is the cream. I just tag along and hope something rubs off by association. They are what I do when I can't go paddle! Sports are what people watch on TV while I'm on the water. I suspect that Sea Kayaking doesn't attract the "A" types. First of all, you have to wear a skirt, then you have a max speed of 6 or 7 knots and we don't get to wear those multi color jet ski PFDs with all the buckles... It's also a sport that should be done with a "buddy" for safety. Diving is a similar discipline, and except for the lunatic fringe, diving also has a comraderie about it.. cya Bob Denton Vice President Undersea Breathing Systems bob_at_dnax.com http://www.dnax.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
