Frank,

The ICOM M1 has a frontal aspect ratio of ~5"x~2" and it's ~1.25 thick . .
.without antenna. The antenna is about 7" long. It will protrude quite nicely
through the top corners, but may intrude on your face, etc. The antenna would
be on the right side unless you point the speaker toward your body, assuming it
would be affixed on the front torso. You would need to evaluate your PFD
pockets for impact/fitting. Given the relative costs, maybe the radio should
drive the PFD purchase.

BTW, I purchased an Icom M1, it seems to do well attached to my Lotus Lola
(Lo-Lo-La-Lola) lower D-ring. This is a very nerdy look though. I must get a
long pointy bladed diver's knife with serrated back edge (or even better a
double edged blade) to attach to my PFD (Lo-Lo-La-Lola). This may balance the
VHF techno with the Rambo primal and maybe no one will notice I'm wearing a
female PFD. Better yet, it won't matter.

Thanks for he input people. I'll be experiencing buyer's remorse for a while,
probably.
I still have a strong suspicion that 1W will transmit to a kayaker's range as
well as 5W. Now if I can swim to a weather buoy and climb to the top . . .

Fred
