regarding anti-staph meds
>>My friend whose antibiotics I took went to the doctors and asked specific
for staph treatment...he had an previous encounter and did not want to
take chances..

the label says: APO ERYTHRO EC CP 333 MG<<<

this is erythromycin, a good but not great anti-staph med

i think better for an expedition first aid kit would be a staph enhanced
penicillin - dicloxacillin, or a 1st generation cephalosporin - keflex, both
with excellent anti-staph characteristics, but you'll have to discuss it with
your doc as they are all prescription items. bet topical antibiotic is
Bactroban (muciprocin) almost as effective topically as oral meds.

fortunately you are unlikely to catch a seriously resistant organism traveling
in the wilderness, more dangerous is gettig an infection in a hospital or
feedlot where the liklihood of meeting up with nasty multiply resistant germs
due to profligate antibiotic use is much greater.
