Can't remember names but someone was asking about reinforcement for deck
for sail rigs on a kayak.
I've had success making various fittings for my boat (including repairing a
worn-out fibreglass seat) with
bits made from those white polyethylene kitchen cutting boards. They come
in a range of sizes and thicknesses, can be drilled and cut with the tools
you use for wood, and are pretty cheap at "dollar stores". If you got one
of the really thin and flexible ones, it would probably conform to the
kayak lines. Try filling in any gaps with "Aquabond" or "Plastibond" or
similar two-part putties if needed to make the installation stronger.
Hope this is of some help.
