Is this a non-stop unsupported race? Would be very interested in a URL.
For those of you who emailed me for more info on the Texas Water Safari,

Give me a little time to look it up. I believe it is.(most parts of the
river are in remote area). The trip is "open" for the first time this
year I believe..??
Maybe someone else that knows more about it will "surface" while I look.

One nice thing I remember about it was the times(FAST) and you don't need
a headlight, thanks to the location and time of year.

I get back on this..

James

Neil, I have not had the time to find the info on the race I mentioned
above.(I will send it when I do) There is also a race that covers the
same river, plus some hiking(gasp). Check out the 1998 Buyer's Guide of
Canone&Kayak, page 21. It tell about the Dyea to Dawson race(longer yet)
With out going into all the details, the first place finisher was in 4
days, 8 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 sec. That was in a recreation-class
canoe! (what ever that means??)

More to come on the other race.

BTW: that was hiking 33 miles, paddling across 100 miles of lakes and
then some 450 miles of the Yukon river.(but then they never had to mess
with fire ants either) <G>

James
