>> They are also going to let me select wahtever configuration I'd prefer, since the other boat was "off the shelf". I'm probably going to keep the skg, but I wonder if any Nordkappers have any feel for the traditional vs Jubilee hull design? Any comments on moving the bulhead for use as a foot brace? >> ************************************************************************** * Unless you are long-legged, I would move it aft in any case, both to reduce the volume of the cockpit and to increase the volume of your forward compartment. If you plan to mount a Chimp footpump on the bulkhead, the bulkhead should be 4 inches ahead of your footbrace (or foot position) in order to have the push plate approximately even with your foot braces. Actually, I like it just a little closer than the foot braces. I once peered inside the cockpit of the Romany Nigel Dennis was using at the Great Lakes Sea Kayak Symposium. His boat was set up with a Chimp foot pump in the center and a large block of foam on either side to brace against -- no foot braces. I asked the dealer I got my Romany from about setting my boat up the same way, but since no one at the dealer knew how to go about it, I decided to play it safe and have footbraces installed instead.
