Traced the bulkhead from inside the forward hatch, rounded up a little, and had a template for the base foam block. Again, rounded up a little for the hull shape, and added further angled blocks where my feet would be, and cut out a recess to set the pump in. Friction holds it in adequately if you cut a tight fit, and the hoses help --- with some duct tape --- hold the whole thing together. One hose down to a strum box under the seat, and an exhaust hose off to the side. Dirt simple, no batteries, no switch. And it dumps water quickly with the skirt on --- and faster if you leave a way for air to get in. (I have a four inch Beckson-type deckplate in the top of the foredeck with a little orange sleeve that hangs down between my knees --- a Brit "glove box" --- which I leave cracked open to allow air in while I pump out. Sounds strange, but without a muktuk diet, it helps a lot to equalize the air pressure inside the hull somehow.) Cram that whole thing in, set the strum box in place, connect the exhaust fitting last --- but don't forget to rig a strap at the forward edge of this kind of rig so that you can pull it out when you want to modify it or to work on the pump. First time, I forgot, and it was not a pretty picture getting the assembly out!
