if you can reenter upside down and put on your spray skirt before rolling up(a
paddle less can be helpful here, or tuck the paddle under your armpit while
securing skirt), you end up with much less water in boat. it is much easier to
take that much time underwater if you are wearing nose clips. entry from the
side is however easier, allowing you to take your time and be more relaxed.
the key, as always, is to practice. first in calm water, then in more
challenging conditions
