Dear List, Please forgive me if I've asked this question before. I'm getting forgetful. Recent talk of kayak rolling reminded me that I have a concern with the packing of gear. I have a boat with lots of storage ability, but I haven't tried paddling with much of a load thus far. It seems to me that, when you're packing your boat with gear (camping, Canadian rocks, etc.), you would want to secure the load with bungies so that it doesn't shift during a roll or when trying to empty the boat of water. So the question is, other than wedging things, how do you secure things in your hatch compartments from shifting around? I have considered attaching d-ring pads to the inside with epoxy and then using bungies and line. Commercially available d-rings with a pad are a bit costly, though. Perhaps someone has found a good way of making these and securing them to the inside of their hull. And, perhaps, some of you have even better ideas. I'd like to hear them. As always, thanks for all the replys.
