It has information on each island in the trail. It also has hand drawn area maps so you can see the relationship of the islands to each other. You can call MITA for recommended overnight or longer parking locations or go to the local police station. The Maine Gazetteer (topo maps) is great for campgrounds and launching ramps. There is a book called Sea Kayaking in New England (I think) by Tasmin Vern (I think) that describes a number of Maine trips. You could probably go to amazon.com or the Adventurous Traveler web sites and do searches to find the right book names, etc. > I would appreciate any specific recommendations for this trip as to > location, particular camp grounds, islands etc. > Here is a link to a multi-day trip report in Penobscot Bay that may be helpful: http://www.midcoast.com/~jimdugan/trip/. You might also look into Acadia National Park on Mt Desert Island and vicinity. I had a great time there last year and didn't begin to scratch the surface. Some areas are 'challenging'. > I have identified myself as a physician. First aid is on me. Hope this helps a little. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed May 13 1998 - 05:44:52 PDT
