A customer asked me for a bulkhead sealant called lexel or lexal. Anybody know of this product, where I can find it, or what else do you use? Lexel is usually available at any good hardware store. It is one of the few products that will adhere reasonably well to polyethylene. Another good product for adhesion to polyethylene is Marine Goop. ---------- From: Froggie405[SMTP:Froggie405_at_aol.com] Sent: Sunday, May 10, 1998 12:23 PM To: PaddleWise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subject: [Paddlewise] bulk head sealant A customer asked me for a bulkhead sealant called lexel or lexal. Builders' supply/hardware stores stock Lexel. I had a leaking bulkhead on a Necky so I called Necky and asked what they used to maintain consistency. Also, I knew for the sake of possible future repairs on the FRP hull, silicon was not acceptable. . .they used Lexel. There is a 5200a <I think> that is a quick cure. The standard is a 24hr or more cure. It is *very* tenacious. It is available at marine stores. I found mine at the local Home Depot. It's an extremely clear silicone-type caulk, and it works great. ________________________________________________________________ Doug Barnard Virtual Acreage Agoura, California (near L.A.)
