G'day -

I am the Australian Kayak Tour operator that Bart referred to in his note to
Dave.

The area is beautiful, very isolated and HUGE (in that you can hide away and
not see any other people for days). Keep in mind that it is REMOTE in any of
your travel / paddling / planning / contingency plans you are making. This is
not "down the street from the corner store" paddling.

We are looking at organising a very select group of clients from our Australian
operations each year to do trips into this area. Small, cosy and totally 'out
of sight touring'.

There is heaps of room in that area and I can vouch that Bart, his family,
friends and the people of Oona River are very, very friendly down to earth
people. The world needs more of them. Do yourself all a favour and paddle the
region (and this is not a plug for us - however you can go, just go). It is
another world. The whole community made me feel welcome and they didn't know
me from a hole in the ground when I first arrived.

>From a blokes perspective, I have to tell you that it was also such a pleasure
to meet men who are articulate, clever and think from the head up - a surprise
considering the remoteness of the area. MAny times I hear people makes
comments that lump people in small communities into the 'they must all be
rednecks' category. These are not those sort of people.

If anyone needs some info on the area I would be happy to help out.

Kind Regards -
