Don't spare the grease on any moving part! I bought one last spring and
thought it was the greatest thing, until the first time I went to use it
this spring. All the latches were corroded to some extent. I used, and
still do use, a lot of penetrating oil to get the latched to work. Time
will tell if I should have got the other non rusting aluminum rack system
instead.

Also the powder coating is flaking off in large pieces. The company says
that there was a problem with the coating process last year and will
replace my rail-n-rack for free, but I have not heard back from them since
April.

I really do like how they fold down into bed rails and it was easy to
attach my Thule kayak cradles to the cross pieces.

BTW, I just came back from a 10 day kayaking tour of the Bay of Exploits,
Newfoundland. The only people we saw were about a half dozen fisherman.
Dozens of icebergs and 8 straight days of sun. I also would like to take
this opportunity to encourage people to continue to kayak the west coast
and I'll take the unexplored, and uncrowded, east cost :-)

Hi folks, I have been monitoring this list for a while, and I would like to
thank everyone for all the information this list has provided me, as well
as
for being, I almost want to say "professional " although good natured and
friendly I guess may be more appropriate, if only because most people on
this
list seem to do this as a hobby and not a profession.
I have not seen anything on the list about it but I have just bought a
Rail-N-
Rack to haul kayaks on my pickup. I wonder if anyone has had any
experience
with this system? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
                                                                Thanks,
                                                                      Jim
