Hi All

The South Jersey Canoe and Kayak Classic show is this Sat. June 6 at Ocean
County Park in Lakewood New Jersey. (About 3 miles down the road from the
Jersey Paddler store). It starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes until 4:00 p.m.

There will be test paddling of many canoes and kayaks along with clinics and
demonstrations. It is a free event and will be held rain or shine.

Some of you have seen the video of John Peterson's rolling display in
"Greenlanders at Kodiak". You can see many of the same Greenland and trick
rolls performed at this show. The rolling exhibition should start around 11:30
or so and will consist of over 25 different rolls done by my wife and myself.
We will also have our full size Greenland skin boats on display along with
many paddles and a Greenland kayak model kit to make your own miniature skin
boat.

If you can come, we would be pleased if you would stop by our booth and say
hello.

Directions

Take Garden State Parkway to exit 91
Go straight on Lanes Mill road (route 549) about 1.25 miles
Make right turn on to route 88. Ocean Lanes (bowling alley) is on left corner.
1.8 miles to Ocean County Park entrance on right.

And a plug for another event: The Esopus Slalom, put on by the KCCNY,
takes place on Saturday *and* Sunday at Railroad Rapid, which is just
about as close to being in downtown Phoenicia, NY (off Route 28)
as it could be without making them re-route Main Street. ;-)

It's a class III that drops 9 meters in about 400 meters: that may
not sound like a lot, but that works out to a gradient of 118 feet/mile.
For comparison, the Loop on the Yough drops at about half that rate.

All of which means that some of us will be sizzling through slalom
gates fast and clean, and some of us will be crashing and burning
for your entertainment. ;-)
