There was one paddler at the Blackburn Challenge this year with a greenland style paddle. Although he did not win, he did alright. However the Blackburn Challenge is a 21+ mile race, and as such, for most of us, it is not a speed event, but an endurance test. As, I think is generally agreed here, the difference between paddles is less significant at lower speeds this result is not unexpected.
