I would like to solicit the listserv for information on seakayaking in
the Galapagos, including logistics, permissions, and highlights. Could
you please post this? Thanks!

[>] Funny you should ask because I spent some time earlier this
week searching the web for that information. I couldn't find any
outfitters at all. I did find a couple of cruises out of Ecuador that
launched their own sea kayaks from their cruise ships but that was about
it. If you come across anything, I for one, would be interested to hear
about it.

I know Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Oregon has put such trips
together in the past. The contact person would be Carla Borovicka at the Sun
River campus and her office phone is (541)536-2020. If you can't reach her
at this number E-mail me back and I'll get a hold of her.

I was there two years ago (on a business trip, of all things). You can
forget about overnight stays (it is difficult to get permission to even
anchor in the area, and once you have it, you must board a 24-hour "guide"
on your boat with you). Some of the larger tour boats might have kayaks that
clients can use for hour paddles. I did notice that one of the Inns near the
Darwin center had a kayak for guest day paddles. I suggest you contact the
Darwin center and find a friendly graduate student to speak with.
