some in holes; some in eddies; some in still water.  But what they
have in common is that they are all fixed relative to the river bottom
(or bank, or whatever).

I'm not sure what he was referring to, because he didn't specify, and
I'm really not sure what point he was trying to make.

But part of *my* point is that not all slalom gates are hung in current.
